Let Go and Let God — You Weren’t Meant to Carry It All
Let Go and Let God — You Weren’t Meant to Carry It All
Yesterday my mom and I went walking, and in the middle of our conversation, she paused, looked right at me, and said,
“You look so much better.”
I smiled and told her,
“It’s because I made the decision to stop carrying everybody else’s problems.”
She nodded and reminded me,
“And you’re right, because the Bible says, ‘Cast your cares upon the Lord,’ not upon yourself or everyone else.”
That stuck with me.
So many of us have good hearts. We care deeply. We want to help. We want to see people free, healed, and whole. But here’s the truth—
You can intercede, you can pray, you can love—but you cannot carry what only God was meant to carry.
I used to feel drained, heavy, and weighed down. Why? Because I was trying to fix what I was only called to pray over.
I was owning what God never asked me to carry.
There is a difference between praying with someone and trying to live their life for them. There’s a difference between standing in the gap and becoming the gap.
We must remember:
- God is the Deliverer.
- God is the Healer.
- God is the Savior.
- And we are His vessels, not His replacements.
The weight you’re carrying today—
The family drama.
The friend’s addiction.
The relationship issues.
The financial struggles of others.
Give it to God.
You’ll be surprised how much lighter you feel when you stop playing God and start trusting God.
“Cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7
“Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28
It’s not selfish to release what’s not yours to carry.
It’s called obedience and wisdom.
Let’s Reflect Together
What are you carrying today that you need to release to God?
Have you been feeling the weight of trying to fix people or situations that are beyond your control?
