Stepping Into a New Season

Image
As one month closes and another begins, I find myself reminded that endings are never wasted. The turning of a calendar is more than a date, it’s an invitation to pause, reflect, and prepare for what’s next. We often underestimate the power of transitions. A simple page flip in time can carry with it both the weight of what we’ve left behind and the promise of what we’re about to embrace. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” That truth steadies me. Seasons change, and so do we. Projects wrap up, some doors close while others open, and challenges stretch us in ways we never anticipated. Yet each of these shifts carries purpose. God doesn’t allow an ending without weaving it into the tapestry of a greater beginning. Reflection Looking back is not about regret but about gratitude. Take time to acknowledge what you accomplished this month, even in small steps, and recognize the lessons that came through challenges. Gratitud...

Navigating Job Loss with Faith: Trusting God in Times of Transition

Image
Losing a job can feel like one of life’s hardest blows. Beyond the paycheck, work often represents security, purpose, and stability. When that is suddenly taken away, it can leave us shaken, anxious, or even questioning our identity. Yet, as believers, we know that our identity is not found in a job title or position, it is rooted in Christ. Job loss may be painful, but it can also be a powerful reminder that God is still in control, even when life feels uncertain. The Emotional Weight of Job Loss It’s natural to feel fear, sadness, or even shame after a layoff or termination. The Bible does not ignore our human emotions. David himself cried out in despair, saying,  “Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me?” (Psalm 42:11). Yet he also followed with hope:  “Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” Allow yourself to process the grief, but don’t remain stuck there. God sees your tears, and He promises that His plans for you...

Jealousy Blocks Blessings: Why We Must Guard Our Hearts

Image
Jealousy is one of those quiet, subtle sins that can creep into the heart without a person even realizing it. It often begins as comparison,  looking at someone else’s life, marriage, ministry, business, or accomplishments — and then measuring it against your own. When left unchecked, jealousy grows into resentment, bitterness, and even curses spoken against others. The truth is simple:  jealousy doesn’t stop the person you’re jealous of. It stops you. The Spiritual Danger of Jealousy Scripture warns us:  “A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones”  (Proverbs 14:30). Envy literally eats away at a person’s spirit, their joy, and even their ability to prosper. Instead of walking in God’s abundance, jealousy traps them in lack because their focus is on tearing others down rather than building themselves up. When we use our words to diminish someone else’s blessings, we are planting seeds of death. The Bible says,  “Death and life are i...

Walk Boldly in Alignment with God

Image
Pursue your education. Write your book. Start that business. Step out and launch the ministry I told you to begin. Too many of God’s children hold back because society has trained them to feel guilty for walking in alignment with His will. The world will try to convince you that obedience looks like pride, but heaven knows the difference. When you walk in alignment with God, goodness and mercy will follow you all the days of your life. When you walk in obedience, you walk in blessing. Every step becomes covered, every path becomes directed, and every season carries purpose. Do not be ashamed of your blessings. They are not signs of arrogance; they are the fruit of obedience. They are reminders that you chose to follow when others hesitated, that you surrendered when others resisted, and that you trusted God when it would have been easier to shrink back. Beloved, alignment with God will always bring opposition from man, but it will always secure favor from heaven. Walk boldly. Pursue wh...

Stop Shrinking Back

Image
God impressed on my heart that the only reason you have felt the need to shrink back comes from being surrounded by the wrong people. Many convince themselves that hiding their accomplishments shows humility, and many believe dimming their light somehow pleases God, yet shrinking never reflects humility, it reflects a misunderstanding of who we are in Christ. For years I thought stepping back or downplaying what God was doing in my life made me humble, but the Spirit revealed that shrinking never equals humility. True humility comes when you give God the glory while walking confidently and unapologetically in the identity He has placed upon your life. Some people feel uncomfortable when you live in your full identity, because your obedience to Christ exposes their complacency. Your rising demands that they rise, and your light challenges them to step out of darkness. Instead of allowing this holy tension to move them forward, many prefer that you remain small so they never need to chan...

When Distance Becomes Necessary

Image
There are seasons in life where distance is not rejection, but protection. It is never easy to step back from relationships, especially when you care deeply for people. Yet sometimes the Holy Spirit whispers that it is healthier to create space. For me, distance has not been about pride or unforgiveness. It has been about stewardship, guarding the limited time, energy, and resources that God has entrusted to me. When you allow everyone full access, you can quickly become drained, used, or distracted from the very assignment God placed in your hands. Distance, when done with prayer and discernment, is an act of love. It allows others to lean on God rather than leaning too heavily on you. It keeps your heart free from resentment. And it protects the work God is building in you from being derailed by constant demands. If you find yourself in a season where God is calling you to step back, don’t confuse that with failure. Jesus Himself often withdrew to lonely places to pray (Luke 5:...

Why I Decided I No Longer Want to Be the “Go-To” Person

Image
Growing up, I always enjoyed helping people. It felt natural to step in, offer support, and make sure things got done well. Even as far back as eighth grade, I can remember group projects in my science classes, especially biology. While others took it lightly, I would often find myself carrying the bulk of the work. Why? Because I’ve always walked in a spirit of excellence. I believed that whatever had my name attached to it should be done with quality. Over time, I discovered that being the “go-to” person comes at a cost. People start to rely on you not because they want to grow, but because they know you’ll get the job done. What feels like helping can quickly become enabling. When that pattern repeats itself for years, it turns into exhaustion. Now, as an adult, a pastor, and a leader, I’ve had to face this truth head-on: I can no longer carry the weight of being everyone’s first call, everyone’s problem solver, everyone’s safety net. It is too time-consuming, it drains energy that ...

The Exhausted Leader

Image
Leadership is often described with words like strength, vision, and influence and while those are part of the story, there is another side that rarely gets shared: exhaustion. I know this side well, because I have lived it. As a leader, I carry responsibilities that begin first with  family . They are my first ministry, my daily priority, and the closest stewardship God has entrusted to me. Beyond family, there is also the weight of  work , the ongoing needs of  ministry , and the demands of  business . Each of these areas pulls on my time and energy in different ways. People often see the books, the programs, the accomplishments, but they don’t always see the toll it takes on the person behind it all. Exhaustion in leadership is not just about long hours. It is also emotional and spiritual. It is the constant sense of being needed, of carrying responsibilities that others don’t always see, and of quietly battling the pressure to remain strong for everyone else. The ...

Beyond the Frost: Finding Strength in Your Winter Season

Image
Winter has a way of making everything look quiet, still, and even lifeless. Trees stand bare, the air feels heavy, and nothing seems to be moving forward. Yet beneath the surface, something powerful is happening. Roots are deepening. The ground is resting. Life is being preserved for the season to come. Leaders face winters too. These are the seasons when progress slows, opportunities seem scarce, and the results you hoped for are delayed. It’s tempting to panic, to fill the silence with busyness, or to assume nothing is happening. But the truth is, winter seasons are often when the most important growth takes place. Winter teaches us the discipline of strategic stillness. When the noise of activity quiets down, leaders can finally hear the deeper questions:  Where is my vision headed? What truly matters right now? What systems need strengthening so I’m ready when momentum returns?  These are not questions we usually ask when life is racing forward. They are the questions of w...
