The Peace of God: Resting in His Goodness

The Peace of God: Resting in His Goodness
By Dr. Christina Asare

It’s a quiet Thursday. I’m sitting in my living room, looking out the window, and all I can feel is peace. Not the kind the world gives—but the kind that only comes from God. It’s deep. It’s still. It’s holy.

This morning, I didn’t wake up with a heavy heart or a long list of burdens. I woke up with joy. With rest in my bones. With clarity in my spirit and as I sit here, I realize that I’m experiencing something sacred—the peace of God that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

It’s not always like this. Life brings storms, demands, noise, but today, there is peace and I don’t take it for granted. Every breath feels like a blessing. Every ray of sunlight shining through the window feels like God smiling on me. There’s no striving. Just resting.

I’ve come to understand that peace is not the absence of problems—it’s the presence of God. It’s choosing to anchor your soul in Him, even when the world around you is rushing. It’s slowing down to notice the beauty in the ordinary and it’s letting gratitude rise up for what is, instead of worrying about what isn’t.

Today, I’m simply thankful. Thankful for life. Thankful for quiet. Thankful for peace. Thankful for the presence of the Lord that fills this room even now.

If you’ve been feeling heavy, let this be your reminder: God is still near. He has not forgotten you. His peace is available to you—not just someday, but now. All you have to do is receive it.

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.” – Isaiah 26:3

Closing Prayer

Father,
Thank You for Your peace—perfect, constant, and unshakable. Thank You for moments like this, where we can simply rest in Your presence and be still. Quiet our hearts from the noise of the world, and help us to remember that You are always near. Let Your peace guard our minds, rule our hearts, and lead us into deeper trust. We give You our worries, and we receive Your calm.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

With a grateful heart,
