These Layoffs Are Going to Cause a Divine Shift
Recently, as I was reading the Bible, something struck me: I didn’t see any system that resembled the modern 9-to-5 grind. Most of the great men and women of God were not employees, they were owners, builders, and entrepreneurs. They managed resources, led people, created goods, and stewarded the assignments God gave them.
Abraham managed large herds and servants. Lydia was a seller of purple goods. Paul was a tentmaker. Proverbs 31 describes a woman who bought land, planted vineyards, and made profitable merchandise. These were people who built and multiplied what God put in their hands.
So why is this important right now?
We are in a season where layoffs are happening at an alarming rate. Entire departments are being eliminated. Companies are restructuring and many talented, capable people are finding themselves sending out thousands of applications… and hearing nothing back.
If that’s you, I want to encourage you: maybe it’s not rejection. Maybe it’s divine redirection.
Sometimes God has to close one door so you will walk through the one He has been holding open for you all along and often, that door is not another job.
If you’ve been hitting a wall in your job search, maybe it’s time to consider:
- Writing that book God has been putting on your heart.
- Starting the business you’ve been dreaming about for years.
- Launching the podcast to share your story and wisdom.
- Creating the course that will help others solve a problem you’ve already overcome.
The truth is, some of the most impactful work you will ever do will not come from an employee badge, it will come from the vision God placed inside you.
Layoffs may feel like loss, but in the Kingdom, they can be the setup for freedom, ownership, and influence. God may be positioning you to step into the role of a creator, not just a worker; a leader, not just a follower.
This is your moment to pray, seek His direction, and boldly step into what He’s calling you to build. The world needs what He has placed in you.
Don’t just look for another job. Look for your assignment.
